You know that a sapphire is a popular engagement ring in England, and that Princess Kate wears the sapphire that was Diana's engagement ring. Well, it's a long and well treasured appreciation of the 2nd hardest natural stone, the sapphire, that brings this beauty forward, as well. Out of Victorian England, this beautiful Victorian ring sports a beautiful and BIG cut sapphire in a lacy dainty setting that's quite unique, an early solitaire with the old many-pronged mount that predates the Tiffany mount of the early 1900s, and which is accented with lots of lovely old rose cut diamonds. We'd date the ring to c.1850-70s, though I will admit jewelry isn't my strongest avenue of expertise. The rose cut diamond are so often seen on jewelry up through those years, but this one could certainly be even older, too. I've been wearing it along with an extra large diamond solitaire I own, and can tell you it would be beautiful used as an engagement ring along with a simple gold band as wedding ring. The sapphire has not been graded. I have acid-tested the gold and tested the diamonds - both are guaranteed as stated. I suspect that a Victorian jewelry item of this quality would definitely have a high-grade sapphire, too, don't you? It certainly is a beauty!

Very good to excellent, not a single diamond has gone missing. The diamonds are cut in the old rose cut method, and have been tested and confirmed as diamond. The ting mount is tested at 18k and is yellow gold, solid. The sapphire is very large, probably a bit over a carat, but we'll stay with 1 carat. It rests well in a crown-like mount with prongs in fine condition or re-pronged over the years. Lovely! The heart-shaped antique ring box is a prop we use, and it will not come with the ring. But we will send out in a new ring box for gifting. Size and measurements noted on our photos.
