Gorgeous Antique Whiting Sterling Silver 158pc Flatware Set, Art Nouveau Lily Pattern

In a word: Beautiful! It can take years and years to complete a full service of this magnificent antique Art Nouveau masterpiece set, complete with many serving pieces. Look over the photos well - it is a stunning old set. I do believe this is the most beautiful sterling silver pattern ever designed in the USA, and in fact, standing behind my words, I own another 300+ pieces of it, myself. It is the old original 1902 Whiting pattern, all with the appropriate Whiting marks. Most of the 158 pieces you see here have no monogram. There are a few pieces used to fill out the expansive 12-person place settings and serving pieces will have a small or innocuous monogram, but not many of those. If you break this out by single piece prices on sites like Replacements site, you'll find we're woefully below the market on these 158 pieces. The large serving pieces can be upwards of $1000 for salad set, $600 or more for the largest shell serving spoons, and $140 per large fork (of which you have 24 in this set, please note). What we have is full service for 12 of your guests, lacking just 2 dinner knives only, and those you'll find and add over time. Service for everything from shellfish to salad, main course and dessert, and a final demitasse of perfectly brewed espresso. Even 4 salt spoons for your table's open salt service. A truly amazing array, and in the most opulent old American pattern ever designed. The set includes:

10 large dinner knives (These are $489 each at Replacements) 24 dinner forks 12 table spoons 12 salad forks (also for dessert) 12 luncheon knives 12 butter knives 24 teaspoons 12 boullion spoons 12 demi-tasse spoons 12 cocktail forks (also for shell fish)

Serving pieces: 2-pc salad servers 9" and 9.25" long 1 9" shell form serving spoon, vermeil bowl 1 8 1/8" serving spoon 1 7.25" meat fork (vermeil tines) 1 6 1/8" shell bowl serving spoon 1 6" shell bowl serving spoon (vermeil bowl) 6 open salt spoons 1 nut spoon (4.5") 1 5 7/8" shell bowl spoon 1 5" claw-tines sugar tongs

Very good-excellent condition. Some tarnish visible in recessed areas, which only serves to give depth and definition to the magnificent pattern. (French silversmiths use the trick of a very quick wipe and buff application of brass polish after wheel polishing to be sure there will be a trace of tarnish in recesses of a pattern, in order to show it at its best, which is what we've done for you here). Some of the pieces have small monograms while others do not. There are also twelve of the small cocktail forks but one has a slightly different pattern. 143.7 troy ounces or 4470 grams total weight not including the knives (193.7 troy ounces or 6026 grams with knives). See pictures for individual weights and measurements.
