Clean elegant early Art Deco transition set with a most spectacular appeal, this antique sterling silver and tortoise shell vanity jars set (3 pieces) will be so perfect on your mirrored plateau or dresser tray, you'll never leave them behind. Yes, we think they were once part of a grand set of travel jars and would have likely had a superb old leather train case and some other matching pieces. Who knows what distributor or maker they began with, but the quality suggests Hermes or similar. No marking other than the requisite French Minerve and silversmith's poincon, which is not easily readable. The Minerve is first standard, or .950/1000 purity - the highest standard in silver used. The tortoise shell has a nip or two, as you can see, but is still rich and elegant and ripe with Art Deco style and grace. Flaws are noted in both images and price. A set you can both afford and feel 'rich' owning. Superb!
