Exquisite 18K Gold Georgian Hair Art Bracelet, Clasp
No dedication on back to help us lock a date, but I feel quite certain this one would be late Georgian, c. 1830s, and I am quite certainly astounded at the fine condition in which it has survived all this time since. Obviously well treasured by generations of some well-to-do family, though we will never be able to match them up because, alas, there is not any engraved dedication on this one. A rich thick and very sturdy woven hair bracelet that is surely made for a gentleman (or a stout lady of her time). And the large and heavy gold clasp is truly an amazing piece all on its own, besides. Tests at 18K and is yellow gold.
Excellent condition, without loose or damaged hair weave in the bracelet proper, and the gold fitting and clasp are also just elegant. The convex polished glass cover is without scrapes or abrasions, and one might guess this one has never been worn at all. The only detraction is that some of the gold threads and seed pearls within have come loose of their original position in the very decorative hair art within. Isn't it just stunning, though?
