Superb Vintage Baltic Sea Amber, Gilt Sterling Silver Bracelet
In Russia and the Baltic countries last summer, I'd hoped to find a nice bit of true Baltic sea amber jewelry to bring home. Alas, outside of the museums, most of the jewelry offered was likely resin and out of China. I finally gave up trying and came home empty-handed. But here I've located a fabulous vintage bracelet of genuine amber and set in a very fine setting of 22K gilted or vermeil on .835/1000 sterling silver. You'd be hard pressed to be certain it is not 18K solid gold or higher, truly, and the feel and look of this one on the wrist is spectacular! I feel like a Russian Tzarina wearing it. Look at the amber - you can see fossils remaining within. If you, like me, are fortunate enough to visit the Baltic countries, or go to Russia, why not do so with this beautiful 'souvenir-in-waiting' bracelet already upon your wrist and enjoy your trip all the more. The amber room in the Catherine Palice was fabulous - you MUST go! The bracelet is a fine reminder of the wonders of the area. Don't miss this very fine and genuine collection of it!
Very good to excellent condition, not any damage or flaws to note. Dates mid-10th century, we're quite sure (1940-60s) and would cost far more today if you could find it in Russia, believe me! A great find!
