Rare Antique Minton Raised Gold Enamel 10" Soup Plates, Set of 4

Rare to find, soup plates are a necessity at table, and can only rarely be located from the old sets. We have just 4 of these, but an intimate dinner party for your favorite friends or just your lover and you would be perfectly set with these layered on your antique raised gold decorated antique dinner plates, don't you agree? The work on these is just beautiful - delicate and in fine form after all these years. They were made by Minton and for distribution via one of the USA's most elegant purveyors of fine luxury goods during the turn of the 1900s, the Belle Epoch as it is known, when such finery was making its way to more and more homes as the upper middle classes expanded along with the wealthy during the industrialization of the world's great Nations. This set is probably earliest 1900s. The mark used from 1902 forward, and Gilman Collamore & Co. was in business from 1861 - 1920, so we can pin the set down that closely in time.

Very good to excellent condition with beautifully hand applied raised gold decoration that is framed in by a scalloped rim which again echoes the gold. Not the least overpowering, the delicate artistry on the outer rim of this superb set is thrilling to see. These gold enamels remain high brilliant gold because of the inclusion of gold powders or powdered gold, if you will, in the enamel. A set you will love owning!
