A distinguished silver-blue haired gentleman in upper class Georgian era costumery, in a rare hand painted silhouette that gives dimension and character to his profile. Usually a profile silhouette from this period is simply a black painting or cutout-looking silhouette, so it's wonderful to find the few that are fully hand painted portraits like this. a nice transition between the two genre if you're a collector. Housed in his original and typical Georgian era frame, as well. Circa 1770-1830, we think this one is likely toward the later part of this period.
Very good to excellent condition, as our images show him. The painting is on paper, and not on an thin natural wafer wafer as many portrait miniatures are, making it more like the old ink on paper silhouettes, but of course, this one is fully painted as a portrait rather than only a silhouette. Watercolor on paper. Nicely framed in original early 1800s frame.
