Exceptional Antique French Empire Style 13" Picture Frame
Absolutely gorgeous & rare antique French Napoleon III era 13" picture frame, an Empire style beauty with breathtakingly detailed floral garland top & bottom, large reticulated flower basket finial & dolphin figural feet and delightful old French fabric mat! Nice large size, this on stands an impressive 13" tall and is 9 1/4" wide! Richly gilded dore bronze ormolu, all in wonderful condition as is evidenced by the images. What appears to be the original French embroidered mat is a bit soiled but intact, with a bronze inner view that holds a 4x6" (4" x 5.5" actual) portrait! One meant for my collection of French Empire style frames.... Rick worked the pictures so I guess we HAVE to list it :). My loss, your treasure!
Very good-excellent condition. As noted, the fabric mat is a bit aged looking but fully intact and likely original, which isn't too easy to find. The gilding is all in great shape, as you can see. The center portion of the backing is missing but that could easily be replaced. See pictures for measurements.
