Early Antique Portrait Miniature, Hand Painted Wafer in 14K Gold Frame

Very fine condition. The gold frame is locket-type with fitted oval of plaited hair in back, covex glass front and back - all in fine order. No chips, cracks, scuffs to detract from appeal or value. The painting is housed beneath a convex glass that has a gilt-noire (gold & black) border hand painted onto it in the eglomise fashion, (also helping us to date the piece), and is original and exquisite. We would not dare to open this one to see what might be on backside of his image - perhaps some identification or an artist's signature. It will remain a mystery for now. Superb museum piece, this!
