Whether for cologne or vanity unguents, or for your favorite liqueur service at table, you're sure to find the perfect use for this elegant large decanter with its silver collar, silver and tortoise shell lid with such pretty pique work. You know, we often bring out a variety of liqueurs at dessert time along with a little ice cream and guests love it as much as we do - and this decanter is really just the perfect size for such use. I imagine it was made as a cologne bottle, but it's too pretty to hide in a bathroom or dressing room and so do try it at table. Isn't it a beauty!
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. It might have a nip or two at the points of all that intricate facet-cut body, though I haven't located one. Usually you can find them with fingertips, but my fingertips are numb with this CIDP I have, so it's possible I missed something - will note it just in case. The lid is lovely - domed tortoise shell is steam-formed and fitted perfectly to its English sterling silver cap. The original stopper remains in place, as well. Whether you add it to your tray of tortie jars and vanity decanters, or take it to table, it's sure to please you.
