A superb set of 12 pristine antique plates by one of England's most lauded names, MINTON - a company who, since late 1700s, has commanded the respect accorded firms whose aesthetic and productions exceed expectation in all manner, and consistently lead their market. The heritage of the Minton name and maker mark is legendary, and bears your own quick peruse via an online search. We'll simply say, the quality and appeal always exceed that of other firms and competitors. Minton is one of our favorite makers! The set you see here dates between 1891 and 1912, when the maker mark shown on backs of each was in use. We would suggest that they are earlier rather than later, as Tiffany & Company (also underglazed in the mark here) was most actively importing fine tablewares before and at the turn of the 20th century. Yes, this set was made by special commission by Tiffany & Co., NYC, as noted. The combination of both 'masters of the universe' maker names underscores the value and importance of this beautiful set, as well as the heritage importance for your own heirloom collection. Thrill your guests!
Very good to excellent condition. From all I can see, these appear to have never been used. The hand painted transfers at center are without any scrapes that would indicate utensil use. They are rich with gold on those thick outer rims, too, and lush with vibrant color and elegant appeal. Scalloped rims haven't a bit of nip, chip or crack; no hairlines or crazing to note. We're thrilled to offer them and know their next owner will be equally thrilled to use them or display them.
