This is a beautiful old hand stitched quilt. It is from a Texas estate and is ca.1900. The truest colors are in the first few pictures...at least on my monitor.
It has a great graphic quality, with what looks like circles and stars. Sorry, I do not know the name of this pattern. I am not a quilt expert, but do find myself drawn to certain strong patterns. These stars are done in a variety of old cotton patterns on bright orange backing with deep yellow binding trimming.
SIZE: measures 80" by 67 ½". Twin size. These quilts are wonderful in several ways, and have multiple uses. Besides fitting a twin side bed, you can lay it across the foot of a full or queen size bed, over a white coverlet for a lovely colorful accent.
CONDITION: nice strong hand stitches, approx. 8-10 stitches per inch. There are however, 2 flaws. On the side measuring 67 ½" in approx. the middle of the bottom edge there is wear and tear. Please see the pictures. These splits are in the same places on the bottom edge. Very strange since the other 80" sides are just fine. The center section is in wonderful pre-owned condition too.
