This is a lovely 14K gold sparkling tanzanite ring. Clusters of periwinkle, soft violet, blue tanzanite sit on top of this ring. A large central stone and just slightly smaller 'wing' stones are surrounded by a fine selection of smaller stones.
These stones form the attractive, ever so lightly domed, top of this ring. This is not a ring with a high setting, so it is easy and comfortable to wear. Marked 14K inside with initials, probably of the previous owner.
The darker the stone the more valuable it is. Daylight will cause this gem to show blue and incandescent light will bring out the violet color. MOHS hardness scale is a 6.5. I have been told to not put these precious gems in sonic cleaner machines. (My pictures were taken under staged fluorescent lights.)
SIZE: Size 8 ring. The face measures 5/8" east to west and ½" north to south.
CONDITION: excellent pre-owned condition. Exceptionally clean and ready to wear!
ERA: Ca. 1980, from a Minnesota estate.
HISTORY: Tanzanite from Tanzania was first found in the mid 1960's. Strangely enough, it was given the name tanzanite by the then vice-president of Tiffany and Co.
Tanzanite is now considered to be one of DECEMBER's birth-stones. Tanzanite is universally heat treated to produce a range of hues between bluish-violet to periwinkle blue. Since heat treatment is universal, it has no effect on price, and finished gems are assumed to be heat-treated.
Your ring will arrive in a new gift box, with FREE first class shipping in the USA, compliments of Wild Goose Chase.
