A splendid antique Bohemian amber overlay clear crystal trinket box, dated to late 19th early 20th century. It is from the 'Egermann' collection. This collection is named after its inventor, Bedrich Egermann of Novy Bor, who was born in 1777. The typical feature of this collection is a red or golden amber glaze which is decorated with cut and engraving achieving interesting contrasts. This particular box in here is an excellent example of Egermann art glass, where long-standing tradition, centuries of experience and perfect manual work of glass makers are the reasons why the products continue to be admired even in this modern age. The cut, this box displays, is simply beautiful; every side of this oval hexagon shaped box embellished with intaglio cut; flowers on the lid, swags of flowers and deep ridges on sides. Bohemian glass boxes are truly divine, ranging in a variety of colors and shapes and such absolutely beautiful, great to collect and display for all to see. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. The box stands 3" high, 4 1/2" x 3".
