Opaline crystal glass or cristal d'opale is a semi-translucent crystal glass. First appeared in France during the Empire period and reached its pick of popularity during the reign of Napoleon III, seems to me it never went out of popularity due to its soft delicate and very decorative look. Here you offered a fine pair of French Bulle de Savone opaline crystal glass perfume bottles, dated to the early 20th century, similar bottles and more reference to bulle de savon opaline crystal can be found in the book Les Opalines by Christine Vincendean. This heavy (over 5.2 lb) set of 2 bottles painted throughout with colorful flowers and gilt floral accents. Bulle de savon opaline glass is absolutely stunning, as illustrated here in this superb box. The quality is magnificent, and the opaline glass illuminates with a fiery opalescence, literally glowing! The bottles have gilded bronze or bronze dore finials in form of flower which are fit perfectly. Signed R. Noirot, who produced bottles and vanity items in this floral pattern for the House of Guerlain perfumery in a variety of popular scents. These decorated bottles are highly collectable today. This delightful set, both bottles in here are in very good condition with general little age wear. Measures (including the finial) - larger 7" high, without finial 5 1/4", 4" in diameter at the bottom; smaller one stands 6 3/8" high, without finial 4 1/2", 3 1/2" in diameter at the bottom.
