The extraordinary dolls of French doll artist Heloise are on permanent display in a number of Swiss and French museums, including the Musee des Arts Decoratif at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Nantes artist made her first original doll in 1976, and began working in cast resin in 1982. She has worked in resin ever since, regularly participating in museum exhibitions and doll shows in France, Russia, the United States, and Switzerland, and winning a number of awards. Email me if you want more information about Heloise and images of all her dolls.
This doll is named Estelle and she dates from among the first of Heloise's numbered dolls in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She is #71 of 100. She comes with an official Heloise tag. Like most of Heloise's dolls she is dressed entirely in silk, wearing a two-piece pink and purple polka dotted silk fitted jacket with matching gored skirt.
Her shoulder plate and head are cast resin, her body and her arms with armature are stuffed heavy cotton. Below the elbow and knee joints her arms and legs are sculpted resin, all in a convincingly life-like skin tone. Beneath her suit she wears a full-length silk slip with pink pleated trim and long laced-trimmed silk bloomers. She wears opaque black stockings and vinyl lace-up boots with a silver tone buckle in front.
She wears a black mohair wig, made a bit messy by her flower and ribbon festooned straw hat. Her hair is tied in the back in a pony tail. As you can see she has a gorgeous completion and wonderfully sculpted face and lips. Her green eyes, which look like they are glass, are actually painted in a manner that only Heloise seems to know how to achieve.
Estelle is in excellent condition, and has been kept in a darkened climate controlled room in a glass cabinet. She has no odors, defects, or wear. Please email us if you have any questions.
