The extraordinary dolls of French doll artist Heloise are on permanent display in a number of Swiss and French museums, including the Musee des Arts Decoratif at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Nantes artist made her first original doll in 1976, and began working in cast resin in 1982. She has worked in resin ever since, regularly participating museum exhibitions and doll shows in France, Russia, the United States, and Switzerland, and winning a number of awards. Email if you want a good website that provides images of all her dolls.
This doll is named Amandine and she dates from among the first of Heloise's numbered dolls, approximately 1992. She is #95 of 100. Like most of Heloise's dolls she is dressed entirely in silk, exquisitely fashioned here into two-piece suit with a tiny black polka dot pattern on a grey silk background. Her skirt is long and gored and her jacket is fitted. Her long-sleeved blouse is a semi-transparent ivory covered with embroidery in the front and with tiny button closure in the back.
Her shoulder plate and head are resin, her body and her arms with armature are stuffed heavy cotton. Below the elbow and knee joints her arms and legs are sculpted resin, all in a convincingly life-like skin tone. Beneath her suit and blouse she wears a full-length silk slip with lace trim and long silk bloomers, also laced-trimmed. Finally, she wears ivory-colored fishnet stockings and vinyl flats with silver tone buckle in front.
Her human hair is a lovely strawberry blonde, a bit messy and tied in the back with an ivory ribbon. As you can see she has a gorgeous completion and wonderfully sculpted face and lips. Her blue eyes, which look like they are glass, are actually painted in a manner that only Heloise seems to know how to achieve. Her knees are partially bent so that she can be posed in either a sitting or standing position.
Amadine is in excellent condition, and has been kept in a darkened climate-controlled room in a glass cabinet. She has no odors, defects or wear. Please email us if you have any questions.
