Return Policy

Ruby Lane and each of its independent shops want you to be satisfied with your purchase. To ensure your satisfaction and for the protection of both the buyer and shop owner, we have a Return Policy that each Ruby Lane shop owner honors. View Return Policy

Shipping/Handling/Insurance Policy

Vintage & antique jewelry is usually sent USPS priority mail, insurance required. Insurance is required on orders totaling more than $100 to protect your investment while it "travels".

Orders totaling less than $100 may be shipped USPS first class (cheaper option). Also, customers have the option of waiving insurance - at your own risk - for these less expensive orders.

For orders totaling $500 or more, UPS or FedEx service may be requested. Please ask shop owner for price quote.

For some expensive items or high total orders, UPS or Fed Ex service may be required.

USPS Priority Mail Express and FedEx Express delivery are available (and more expensive) for next day delivery. Please ask shop owner for price quote.

Jewelry is shipped within 1-3 business days of cleared payment, unless our shop has an update that says otherwise (vacation, family emergency, etc.) or you are contacted by the shop owner regarding a reasonable delay.

For international mail, priority mail can be tracked and insured up to $500. For orders totaling more than $500, Priority Mail Express service is required, with insurance.

For orders totaling less than $200, USPS First Class International is an option. If you choose this cheaper shipping option, however, your package cannot be officially tracked or insured.

That said, the customs number on a first class package usually provides some tracking information, but it sometimes can be limited and not always entirely reliable. I just want to make sure you understand the risk, since first class international packages are not eligible for refunds if they are lost or damaged in transit.

In my experience, 99.999% of the time, first class packages shipped from my U.S. address do arrive just fine overseas, but I have had a few customers over the years who have been disappointed (Statistically, 3 out of nearly 3,000 customer orders in my 7 years of selling on Ruby Lane)...Again, it's your choice and your risk.

If you would like secure tracking/insurance:
GOOD: Priority Mail International service (other than Small Flat Rate Priced Boxes),
BETTER: Priority Mail Express International service
or,
BEST: Global Express Guaranteed service is the way to go.

Priority mail, Priority mail express or Global express international can be expensive (Usually $24.75, $53.25, and $92.30 respectively), but it protects your jewelry investment.

ALSO, International customers are responsible for all customs fees on FINE jewelry items. Please do not expect me to "bend" the rules or break customs laws regarding FINE jewelry (sterling, gold, platinum, diamonds, etc.), since I will be the one held responsible.

COSTUME jewelry may be noted as "used costume" on customs forms, and it can legally be notated at its "scrap" value, which is usually $35 or less...but only for uninsured first class packages.

I pack my jewelry very well, with packing tissue paper and bubble wrap, many times with jewelry boxes, and sometimes with packing peanuts, so your order will arrive to you safe & sound. The majority of the packing materials and boxes I use have been recycled for the sake of the environment – I try to be as green as possible, while still maintaining cleanliness and a nice presentation for my valued customers.

Restocking Fee

We charge a 10% restocking fee on all items returned (unless there was something wrong with the piece(s) or otherwise indicated by the shop owner), priced at $300 or less. All items priced more than $300 will be charged a flat $30 restocking fee. Items priced more than $1,000 will be charged a restocking fee not to exceed $100.

Layaway Policy

This shop offers a layaway plan for purchases. The Ruby Lane Return Policy does not apply to layaway purchases, and Layaway Plans may vary by shop. It is extremely important to read and understand this shops Layaway Plan below, and clarify any terms with the individual shop owner before you enter into a Layaway Plan agreement.

**Restocking and Cancellation Fees apply to the total purchase price of the item and DO NOT include shipping/handling or sales tax, which are the responsibility of the buyer.

Other Information

I DO NOT ACCEPT American Express credit cards via PayPal, since I had a problem with a fraudulent charge back. PAYMENT IS REQUESTED PLEASE WITHIN 1-3 DAYS. Personal checks or USPS money orders mailed are expected to arrive within 7 days from the order date. United States Postal Service (USPS) money orders ONLY, please!

Please make personal checks or money orders payable to: Gay Weintz, 6 Pleasant Street #5, Chester, CT 06412.

Your purchase will not be shipped until your personal check has cleared, which is usually the next business day. USPS Money orders deposited ship per the same guidelines as personal checks. Thank you!

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS
Credit card payments are accepted through PayPal (most credit cards accepted) and Amazon payments.

You can pay through PayPal even if you don't have a PayPal account! I will send you an invoice, and then PayPal will walk you through paying for your item(s) with your credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover). PayPal protects your credit card information during the transaction, and then dumps your info once the sale goes through. It's very easy...just a few clicks and typing in your information!

LAYAWAY Plan & Policies:
We do offer Layaway, so please do inquire about how we can help you finance your wish list! Typically, we require a 33% down payment, and then we'll work with you on setting payments and timeframe so you can pay off the balance without worry. Layaway items do require fairly prompt payments within these agreed upon guidelines. If follow-up payments (for remaining balance) are not made within a reasonable amount of time after the due date(s), the buyer will forfeit 25% of their down payment and the item will be returned to our shop for sale. If you run into a problem with making your balance payments, please do contact us. We will do our best to work with you so we can finalize the sale and you can enjoy your item.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: SHIPPING & CUSTOMS
Customs prohibits the shipping of jewelry to some international countries...or some require shipping by Priority Mail International. If an international order is placed and I cannot fulfill it, please understand I am following rules and regulations established by our government (and probably yours). If you choose not to pay the higher price for International Priority shipping, you are taking a risk. Even if it's registered with first class, that only guarantees the package arrives in your mailbox. Only Priority Mail International covers your purchase for damage in shipping. Please consider this when making a choice on shipping options. If a package is stuck in customs, shipped first class international, our hands are tied. We have no way of finding out how long your package will be held. Even shipped priority, sometimes we are not able to get definite information as to when your package will be released. We will do our best to help locate your package (Priority mail).
